1. Commitment to Net Zero

Kath Smythe Collective is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, in line with UK Government PPN 06/21 requirements. As a micro‑consultancy with a single director and no employees, our carbon footprint is already very low, but we are committed to continuous reduction.

2. Organisational Boundary

This plan covers:

  • The Company Director (sole worker)

  • Home‑office operations

  • Business travel

  • Purchased goods and digital services

  • All consultancy activity delivered remotely or on client premises

3. Baseline Emissions (2025/26)

Scope 1: 0 tCO₂e (no fuel combustion, no fleet, no gas) Scope 2: ~0.06 tCO₂e (home‑office electricity, pro‑rated) Scope 3: ~0.2–0.4 tCO₂e (business travel, IT equipment, cloud services)

Total baseline: ~0.26–0.46 tCO₂e per year

All calculations use UK Government GHG conversion factors.

4. Carbon Reduction Targets

  • Reduce Scope 2 emissions by 25% by 2030

  • Reduce Scope 3 travel emissions by 15% by 2030

  • Maintain Scope 1 at zero

  • Annual review and update of progress

5. Carbon Reduction Measures

Current Measures

  • Remote‑first working to minimise travel

  • Public transport used for client meetings wherever possible

  • Energy‑efficient IT equipment and LED lighting

  • Cloud‑based systems reducing printing and physical storage

  • Recycling of all paper/cardboard and minimal waste generation

Planned Measures

  • Maintain up to date IT equipment with low‑carbon, energy‑efficient models

  • Continue to adopt a travel hierarchy prioritising virtual meetings, rail, and low‑emission options

  • Avoid printed documents except for by exception

  • Annual carbon footprint calculation and reporting

6. Governance

The Company Director is responsible for monitoring emissions, implementing reduction measures, and updating this plan annually.

7. Declaration

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and approved by the Company Director.
